Nishat Ahmed
My name is Nishat. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) working with clients through telehealth and in-person. I believe that mental health is as crucial as physical well-being, and I believe in equitable access to resources for optimal mental wellness. I work from a client-centered, strengths-based, and culturally informed lens. I use different methods of therapy to help clients achieve their goals.
I am currently obtaining clinical hours for CRPO and Yorkville University for my practicum. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the supervision of Dr. Laurie Ponsford-Hill through The Counselling House. My area of interest is working with teens, adults, and couples. I am compassionate about helping those who face challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, family dynamics, immigration concerns, relationships religious or cultural paradigms. By applying modalities that are cognitively focused, attachment, narrative, motivational interview, solution-focused and mindfulness. I am an advocate for mental health, I embody empathy, compassion and a learning mindset; where prioritizing culturally sensitive and understanding the stigma and unique challenges invisible minorities may experience in seeking mental health are what drives my passion for helping those who cannot get mental health help.
