About Kelsey:

My name is Kelsey (she/her) and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I have completed the required coursework for my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University and I am currently completing my practicum by offering low cost online therapy under the supervision of Laurie Ponsford-Hill.

Before beginning my Master’s degree, I completed a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in psychology. Additionally, I previously spent time working as a social work and psychology research assistant, which allowed me the privilege to engage with the narratives and experiences of individuals from a variety of backgrounds. I aim to take what I learned from those experiences into the counselling room by approaching each individual with curiosity and openness.

My aim as a counsellor is to create a space where you can be your authentic self and share openly without fear of judgment. Seeking counselling can often be a daunting experience and therefore, it is my goal to create a safe and comfortable environment that eases any fears or reservations you may have. From here, we can work together to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, as well as prioritize your goals and collaborate on a treatment plan which takes into account your specific values, comfort levels, beliefs, and preferred outcomes.

I also believe that counselling should be tailored to each individual, as every individual has unique needs. For this reason, I draw from a variety of modalities including humanistic, solution-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, narrative therapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy, as well as work from a culturally-informed perspective.

I welcome adults and teens from all backgrounds experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem struggles, relationship difficulties, general stress, perfectionism, and imposter syndrome, among others. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile; I look forward to working alongside you!
