Art Therapy
Healing through creativity and self-expression
At The Counselling House, Art Therapy offers a unique and powerful way to explore emotions, reduce stress, and promote healing — especially when words are not enough. Guided by Dr. Laurie Ponsford-Hill, RSW, RMFT, RCAT, RP, a Registered Canadian Art Therapist, sessions use creative processes such as painting, drawing, or sculpture to help clients express inner experiences and discover new perspectives.
Art Therapy can be especially helpful for individuals coping with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship issues, or self-esteem challenges. It provides a safe and nonjudgmental space to process feelings, enhance self-awareness, and foster resilience through artistic exploration.
No artistic skill is required — the focus is on self-expression, meaning-making, and emotional growth, not artistic ability. Sessions are available for children, teens, and adults, both in-person and online.
