Chaim Fettman

My name is Chaim Fettman, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I am completing my practicum at The Counselling House, where I provide counselling under clinical supervision.

Life can sometimes leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. You may be struggling with anxiety, difficult emotions, relationships, family concerns, loss, or significant changes in your life. At other times, there may not be one specific problem—you may simply recognize that something does not feel right or that you would like life to feel different.

I believe that each person comes to counselling with a unique story, shaped by their experiences, relationships, family, culture, beliefs, and values. My goal is to create a warm, genuine, and non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable talking openly about what you are experiencing. I believe that feeling truly heard and understood is an important part of the therapeutic process.

My approach to counselling is integrative and collaborative. Rather than assuming that one therapeutic approach works for everyone, I draw from a variety of therapeutic perspectives and techniques and tailor our work to your individual needs, personality, experiences, and goals. Together, we may explore patterns in your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, relationships, and past experiences, while also identifying your strengths and developing practical ways to create meaningful change.

I also recognize the important role that culture, faith, family, community, and personal values can play in a person’s life. I strive to approach these parts of a client’s identity with curiosity and respect and to provide counselling that is sensitive to what is meaningful to each individual.

Areas of interest include anxiety, depression and low mood, stress and feeling overwhelmed, self-esteem, relationship and family challenges, grief and loss, life transitions, emotional regulation, parenting concerns, and personal growth. I am also interested in working with adolescents and adults who are struggling with questions of identity, meaning, purpose, or feeling stuck in patterns they would like to change.

You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning counselling. You don’t even need to know exactly what you want to work on. We can begin with where you are right now and work together at a pace that feels comfortable and meaningful to you.

If you are considering counselling and wondering whether we might be a good fit, I would be happy to connect, answer your questions, and learn a little more about what you are looking for. I offer virtual or phone sessions only.
