Micah Berg
My name is Micah, and I am currently an intern under the supervision of Dr. Laurie Ponsford-Hill as I complete my Master of Arts in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy.
I believe therapy is a space where you should be able to show up as you are. Sometimes we can become overwhelmed by what we’re experiencing, feel stuck in patterns we don’t understand, or lose sight of what matters to us. Therapy can provide a place to slow down, explore those experiences, and begin making sense of them without judgment.
My approach is grounded in person-centered therapy, which means that I see you as the expert of your own experience and view our work as something we do together. I use an integrative approach, drawing from emotion-focused, narrative, and cognitive-behavioural approaches and using different perspectives and tools when they fit with what you need. I am interested in exploring the emotions underneath our experiences, the stories we believe about ourselves, and the ways our relationships and circumstances shape who we are.
I am interested in working with individuals experiencing grief and loss, burnout, and relationship struggles, as well as those navigating life transitions, emotional challenges, and questions of meaning and purpose. As someone with a background in spirituality, I am also open to exploring faith and spirituality when these are meaningful to you.
Above all, my goal is to offer a space that feels genuine, compassionate, non-judgmental, and collaborative. You don’t have to arrive with everything figured out. We can start with where you are and work together to understand what you’re experiencing and where you want to go from here.
